  • Dashamula (10 roots): Bilva (Aegle marmelos), Agnimantha (Premna mucronata), Shyonaka (Oroxylum indicum), Patala (Stereospermum suaveolens), Gambhari (Gmelina arborea), Shalaparni (Desmodium gangeticum), Prishniparni (Uraria picta), Brihati (Solanum indicum), Kanta kari (Solanum xanthocarpum), Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris).
  • Panchakola (5 spices): Nagara (Zingiber officinalis), Pippali (Piper longum), Pippalimoola (Piper longum root), Chavya (Piper chaba), Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica).
  • Additional herbs: Triphala (Haritaki-Terminalia chebula, Vibhitaki-Terminalia bellirica, Amla-Emblica officinalis), Trivrit (Operculina turpethum), Danti (Baliospermum montanum).

Clinical Indications

Siddhanta Validation

In Ayurveda, it treats Udara (ascites), Shotha (dropsy), and Kostha shodhana through mutrala (diuretic), anulomana (purgative), and shulahara (analgesic) karmas.  Dashamula pacifies Vata in Mutravaha srotas, while Panchakola clears Kapha ama in Annavaha srotas, restoring Jatharagni.

Scientific Validation

Dashamula shows anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects comparable to aspirin in animal models, reducing paw edema and writhes. Panchakola demonstrates antidiabetic, hepatoprotective actions via aqueous extracts lowering FBG and liver markers. Triphala aids detoxification, supporting electrolyte balance in fluid retention disorders.

Preparation Method

Coarsely powder equal parts of ingredients (1 part each group).  For kwatha: Add 1 part churna to 16 parts water, soak 1-2 hours, boil mildly to 1/8th volume (or 1/4th for Pitta), filter hot. Use wide-mouthed steel vessel, stir continuously, avoid lid.

Dosage and Disclaimer

Adults: 12-24 ml kwatha twice daily before food with equal water.
children: 5-10 ml. Churna dose: 1-2 tsp in warm water as decoction base, per physician.
